The hardest thing about this whole no-job thing for me (other than having no money and the crippling self-doubt) is not making stuff.
Not producing, not creating, not doing, not having my name on the credit lists for things has me feeling like I’m slowly spiralling into obscurity.
My cats will be my only friends forever.
Well, this got me thinking…
Those of you who’ve had the absolute f-ing pleasure of working with me before know I’m partial to a cheeky weekend work session. I find it calming when there are no distractions or constraints — a much easier environment to work in. Also, I’m weird.
So, since I’ve got nothing better to do for now, I’m launching
WEEKEND WARRIOR.
Worst case: you think I’m dumb, but at least it stops me staring into the void for a few days.
Best case: we make something cool together.
Send me the brief, a deck template, assets if I need them, and an NDA if you’re uptight — on Friday. I’ll have something back to you by Monday morning or the next working day. Simples.
Agencies were offered to pay half my rate over the weekend and if the client likes it - they pay the other half.
Below are some of my favourite examples of what can be achieved when you’re off the clock and I’m on the clock.
IDEA: SCENTS OF SELF
Smells from childhood and early life can have a profound effect on Dementia sufferers minds. A recognisable smell can take them back to happier times, help them feel at ease and more connected to the world around them.
Scents of Self are a range of unique scents given to each of Videri’s new guests and families to help them settle in to their new surrounds, make them feel comfortable and act as a another tool to help in recognition as they get used to their new lives.
We’ll work with an independent perfumery to produce a personlised and unique scent based on the memories our new guests are most strongly connected to.
Each professionally made fragrance will feature - top notes, heart notes and base notes just like any perfume you’d purchase from a store. Only these different notes will be made up of prominent moments from the guest’s lives.
BRAND: Videri (Group Homes Australia)
BRIEF: Videri ‘Do Dementia Differently’ so, how can we activate their new brand positioning in a memorably different way?
IDEA: I’ve been getting my haircut every 4 weeks for the last 10 years by Gayna at Maxwell & Charlie’s, I’m a creature of habit what can I say.
When she moved to her new shop in Darlinghurst she asked me to updated her branding. Simple clean stuff the stripey bar thing is graphic device used in certain placements and is a simplified barbers pole.
Go and see it for yourself and get a cut at 175 Palmer Street, Darlinghurst. She’ll throw a beer or wine too, excellent service and she’s absolutely bonkers.

BRIEF: Create an updated branding system to be used across their store windows, business cards, social channels, and more
IDEA: MENTAL HEALTH PLAN PLUS
More and more we’re seeing doctors, psychologists and psychiatrists prescribing exercise and sport as medicine, but let’s be honest most people ,especially those with mental health problems, don’t have a clue where to even begin with exercise. Let’s use rebel’s standing as the nation’s sporting supplier to work with state governments to facilitate people’s mental and physical health journeys.
Once a patient is given their mental health plan from their GP or Dr - rebel will take care of the physical side of things. Whether it’s personalised exercise plans, info on local teams, local gyms, local running tracks, personalised diet plans rebel will provide the help and info.
The best part - they’ll even work with governments to subsidise all gear you’ll be needing on full physical and mental health.

BRIEF: Nobody knows about Rebel’s mental health brand partnerships. How can we get people talking and do some good at the same time?
IDEA: GAME TIME
People are being active all the time in Australia, we’re one of the most active countries in the world. What if we could tap into this activity and get people earning points in specific locations around the country?
Rebel will geo-fence key courts, field’s, outdoor gyms and encourage active people to download the app and start earning points automatically whilst they’re within the geo-fenced area.
We’ll use outdoor media placements to inform people when the ‘game time zones’ are active and to open the app to start earning real points to spend in store. Obviously, the points will be capped and the zones won’t be active for extended periods of time.
Rebel can ‘own’ every outdoor activity area in the country and get the country spending money in rebel stores.

BRIEF: People aren’t aware that rebel has a loyalty points scheme. How can we get people earning, spending and talking about rebel’s loyalty points?
